ME AND THE OTHERS
In each picture one or two people can be seen, who, illuminated by flashlight, stand out from the surrounding darkness. Their bodies and faces are turned away, caught in a moment of introspection, looking inward or turned towards each other. The focus is on their posture and the reflection of light on hair and textiles. The pictures are kept in brown and black tones.
I suggest a pose, but then ask the people to let go of it and capture the transitory moment of detachment and dissolution. I juxtapose this with pictures of budding branches peeling themselves out of the black depths. They stand for a slow, continuous change and for the certainty of blossoming. The pictures are hung at varying heights and distances from one another. The heaviness of the darkness in the pictures is thus countered with lightness.
